" How much Land Does a Man Need?"

I really enjoyed the story "How Much Land Does a Man Need". It is clear what the theme of the story is about and I think the context was very repetitive. But overall, this ironic fictional story reflects the reality. How many Pahom do we know? It is very sad that people do not conform to what has and always want more. Ambition and avarice are above everything. How many stories have we heard from people who have gone over each other to get what they want? At the same time t is possible to find people like the younger sister and her husband. People who know how to live with what God gave them and are happy like that. The story was written back on 1886 and it’s really portraits today’s days reality.
The author Leo Tolstoy, a Russian author, had proved that been an orphaned boy doesn't take nobody's talent away. Pahom is the protagonist of this story, who believes that he does not own enough land. The sisters, the younger sister’s husband and the devil are some of the characters. I am not sure if the devil can be considered as an antagonist.

  2. I Agree with your blog. I feel as if there are so many people out there in the world who are never satisfied. I do truly believe that as long as you have family, support, and love and poeple around you to believe and respect, that, that alone should fulfill happiness in life. People are always searching for more and think that materialistic things mean the most in life. In the story, he is so greedy in thinking if only he had more land, if only he had this much, that the thought of what he actually had wasn't truly ever enough. As an outsider looking in, he had everything in life alone with just his family. In the end, his greediness pays off and ends up taking his actual life away. It was truly sad how it ended, but sends a meaningful message out to the reader.
